“Furniture has pretty much been part of my life from a very early age. I remember first seeing a Charles Rennie Mackintosh ladder back chair which my Dad bought a print of back in the 80s, and was mesmerised by its design. When I realised this piece was made way back in 1900, I knew then that furniture should have that long lasting impression and still be as valid then, as it is now.”
Having established a BA (hons) degree in furniture and related product design , I have been designing and making handmade pieces of furniture from then till now and finally created Cartmellfurniture in 2016.
